Noetic Belly Altar Sculpture
Noetic: of, or relating to, or based on the intellect.
In the context of this sculpture, the title is referring to the noetic sciences, which are devoted to studies of consciousness and the mind. The sculpture consists of an antique solid glass lantern topper, an antique solid glass perfume bottle, and a repurposed wood fishing float (as the stopper). By removing the wooden topper/steeple, it has a small vessel compartment to keep tiny remnants & treasures. The artist has placed a tiny agate stone inside as a first offering. To remove it and place your own offerings, simply remove the topper and carefully hold the sculpture upside down until the pebble falls out. Now it is ready to receive new offerings!
Handmade by visual artist, Genevieve Lawrence.
